Maintenance tip of the month:
We recently had a client whose young one splashed hand sanitizer all over her newly finished hardwood flooring. Where the floor had sufficient time to cure, there was no problem, however, in an area that was re-coated due to trade damage, the finish had not yet cured and the hand sanitizer burned through the top coat. The only option is to re-sand the areas to get rid of these marks.
Highly acidic or basic substances will eat through finishes that have not cured. Although few substances like these are commonly used in a home, those that are can damage any finished wood product.
